KUALA LUMPUR: Budget hotel chain Tune Hotels aims to replicate the high occupancy rate of its Westminster property for its second London property at Liverpool Street.

This will be driven by high demand for affordable hotel rooms in London, especially when the city is hosting 2012 Olympics Games.

“We are committed to London as one of our core markets and will be striving for Liverpool Street to follow in the success of our Westminster property, which has achieved average occupancies in excess of 96 per cent since opening in August 2010,” Tune Hotels group chief executive officer Mark Lankester said in a statement.

Tune Hotels yesterday opened its second London property at Liverpool Street with rooms from £35 (RM172.55) a night.

Located 500m from Liverpool Street station, the new Tune Hotels property features 183 ensuite bedrooms, all of which are 20 per cent larger than the bedrooms at its sister property.

For the first time in the UK, Tune Hotels has introduced twin bedrooms to the Liverpool Street property.

The hotel also has a private courtyard garden.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said affordable hotel rooms are always in high demand in London.

“And it’s fantastic to see Tune Hotels invest in the capital at such a crucial time for tourism.

“There has never been a better opportunity to show our city off to the world as we gear up for one of the most extraordinary and exciting years in London’s history,” Johnson said in the statement.
